Bela Stena is located 12 km from downtown Belgrade, on the western tip of the island of Forkontumac. The name, bela stena, is descriptive, meaning white rock in Serbian.

Bela Stena is actually a weekend settlement, without resident population. It has some 280 vacation homes owned by Belgraders and people from Pančevo.

There are four fish restaurants. A small beach made it a popular resort in the 1970s and 1980s, when the population grew to 20,000 over the weekends. It was especially popular as a destination for children's tourism. But little has been done to improve the conditions, especially in terms of traffic accessibility. With the rapid expansion and modernization of Ada Ciganlija, close to downtown Belgrade, and the emergence of the Lido beach near Zemun, Bela Stena became less and less popular, though it is estimated that some 7,000 people still visit over the weekends during summer season.
