Bauera microphylla

Bauera microphylla is a small many-branched shrub found in eastern Australia. It grows in heathland with high rainfall areas not far from Sydney, around 30 cm in height. It is related to, though dissimilar to the rainforest tree Coachwood. The specific epithet microphylla means "small leaves".

Leaflets are small, 2 to 9 mm long and 1 to 2.5 mm wide. Leaf edges are entire or with two to six teeth. Flowers are mostly six petaled, though some have five or seven. Flowers white or pink, 7 to 14 mm wide. The flower stalk is red, 5 mm long. Sepals are noticeable in spring to summer, when in flower.
