The federal constituency was created in the 1968 redistribution and is mandated to return a single member to the Dewan Rakyat under the first past the post voting system.

2008–2016: The constituency contains the polling districts of Nabor, Pengalayan, Marudi, Beluru, Jegan, Teruking, Lubok Nibong, Puyut, Tutoh, Long Lama, Apoh, Long Miri, Pana, Akahpatah, San, Liomatu.

2016–present: The constituency contains the polling districts of Nabor, Pengalayan, Marudi, Beluru, Teruking, Long Teru, Jegan, Long Miri, Pana, Akapatah, San, Long Lama, Apoh, Lubok Nibong, Puyut, Liomatu, Tutoh, Long Peluan, Bario, Pa' Lungan, Dano, Remudu, Lellang.
