The Bangabandhu Cup, also known as The Bangabandhu Gold Cup is an international football tournament organised by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) as a tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. It was first launched in 1996, and The second Bangabandhu Cup was staged in 1999. BFF had considered re-launching the tournament in 2009. It was finally given the go-ahead in 2014 for a third edition to be played in early 2015 with six nations participating. Nepal is the new champion by defeating Bahrain in the 2016 tournament.
