A Banda Sinfónica is an ensemble of traditional Spanish origin. The instrumentation is wind instruments (including saxophones), percussion and cello and double bass, and occasionally piano and harp.

Structure

The approximate structure of a symphonic band is as follows:

  • Two piccolos
  • Four flutes
  • Three oboes
  • An English horn
  • Three bassoons
  • A contrabassoon
  • Thirty clarinets
  • Two requintos
  • Two high clarinets
  • Two bass clarinets
  • Two saxophones sopranos
  • Six alto saxophones
  • Two tenor saxophones
  • A baritone saxophones
  • A bass saxophone
  • Three flugelhorn
  • Eight tubes
  • Eight Trumpets
  • Five (one or two of them low trombones) trombones
  • Two or three bombardinos
  • Seven tubas (two of them in F and one in Bb)
  • Four cellos
  • Two basses
  • Percussion
