Balkan peace park cross border trek 2003 kosovo montenegro and albania

The Balkan Peace Park is a proposed park (Albanian: Parku Ballkanik i Paqes, Serbo-Croatian: Balkanski park mira/Балкански парк мира) located in the western part of Kosovo, north-eastern part of Albania and south-eastern part of Montenegro. The terrain is rugged and the park is home to the highest mountains in the Dinaric Alps. Maja Jezerce 2,694 m (8,839 ft) in Albania and Đeravica in Kosovo is 2,656 m (8,714 ft) high. Many lakes are found there especially on the Albanian side.

Also this park contains many rare species of animals like the brown bear. The main towns and villages are Peć, Dečani and Junik in Serbia and Tropojë and Bajram Curri in Albania. This park is also home to the Prokletije where old Albanian traditions are still used.
