Dr. Balkrishan Ganpatrao MatapurkarHindi: डा. बालक्रिशन गणपतराव मातापुरकर is an Indian scientist who first defined the term "organ regeneration" and was awarded a US patent on adult stem cells used for organ Regeneration. r

He was born in Gwalior and got a degree MBBS from medical college at Gajara Raja Medical College, Gwalior. Awarded Master of Surgery (MS) from M A Medical College, Delhi University. UHe developed first ever organ regeneration technique in the world while in Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. His received a US PATENT 6227202 in 1996 and U.S. International patent No. 20020007223 in 2003. His World record in Limka Book of World Record in 2002. Even though the patent is with effect from 1995, the human use of research has been published in 1991 in world J of Surg. This research has follow up of patients for 15 years. This work is with effect from 1976. The research credit dates back to 1976. He has composed poems in Marathi, Hindi & in English. Poetry collection is published in 1995 - "satyabrahm geet". Another collection published by Nandini publisher of Pune, Maharashtra is "Satyabrahm Jaganmithya". A publication is under print with Nadini prakashan named "Swatantrata Samradyni"

Regeneration of fallopian Tube and Uterus published in Text Book of Gynaecology in 2011.Another International Patent from USA on Regeneration of Bile Duct and Urinary Bladder granted in 2003. Regeneration of urinary bladder using endoderm stem cells from sigmoid colon published in Ind J of Exptl Biol. in 2010.
