The BBC Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year is an annual music competition launched in 2001 open to young Scottish traditional musicians and presented by BBC Radio Scotland. In 2007 the event was broadcast live on BBC Radio Scotland for the first time.

The award "exists to encourage young musicians to keep their tradition alive and to maximise their musical potential by the pursuit of a career in traditional music. The winner [is] provided with high profile performance opportunities and the necessary tools and advice they require to launch a career in traditional music."
