Axel Hagelstam

Axel Johan Hagelstam (born December 23, 1976, Kauniainen, Finland) is a Finnish political scientist and politician who was a candidate for the 2009 European Parliament elections representing the Swedish People's Party of Finland (Swedish: Svenska folkpartiet (SFP); Finnish: Ruotsalainen kansanpuolue (RKP)).

Hagelstam currently works as an advisor at the Defence Policy Department of the Finnish Ministry of Defence.

Prior to his current position, Hagelstam worked as a researcher at the National Emergency Supply Agency, where he was the secretary for the National Board for Economic Defence, and focused on the development of NATO’s civil emergency planning.

In 2003 Hagelstam majored in political science at Åbo Akademi University.
