Avelino "Sonny" Ignacio Razon, Jr. (born in Manila on 27 September 1952) is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) "Marangal" Class of 1974. He has been recognized for his dedication and professionalism as a police officer.

  • May 2008 - Mobilized CALABARZON (Cavite-Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) task force and investigative units propelled by the RCBC (Laguna branch) bank robbery and soon after the massacre in the same province.
  • February 2008 - Appeared in the senate hearing of the controversial NBN-ZTE project, testified that whistle blower Jun Lozada was under police custody (PNP Police Security and Protection Office) to provide him security, and denied attempt for his abduction.
  • 2007 - Participated in the investigation of the Glorietta 2 shopping mall explosion, the bombing at the House of Representatives, and the Manila Peninsula Hotel siege.
  • December 1994-April 1995 - Surveillance and arrest of a Pakistani businessman, Tariq Javed Rana, suspected in an assassination plot against Pope John Paul II.
  • 2010 Manila Mayoral election

    Razon is now making peace with the residents of Manila in preparation for his candidacy as mayor in the May 2010 election. He said that he will offer a new kind of politics when he runs for the mayoralty race. He is eyeing Isko Moreno as a running mate.

    On 12 October 2009, Razon resigned from his post as Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process to shift his focus on the 2010 elections.

    Personal life

    Razon is a parachuter, skydiver, scuba diver, and a motorcycle rider. He is married to Cecilia Cleofe-Razon and a father to a daughter and three sons.
