The Australian People's Party is a name that is part of Australian political history.

From Federation to 1911 a party of that name existed contesting rural seats. In 1929, a party of that name endorsed a candidate in the Division of Martin in the Australian elections held that year attracting 4,450 votes which was 7.5% of the vote in that election [1]. In 1996, a candidate for the Australian People's Party contested the seat of Joondalup in the West Australian election achieving just over 300 votes [2].

The Australian People's Party appeared as a political party in the 2003 film The Honourable Wally Norman, where it nominates meatworker Wally Norman as a candidate in a Federal election.[3] The party has been widely thought to be a centrist party aiming to develop a new vision for Australia.

In January 2014 the Australian People's Party was reinvigorated. The Western Australian former lawyer and teacher Gabriel Harfouche reformed the Australian People's Party with a new eight point policy framework that will balance the budget, put schools, hospitals, commerce and jobs for Australians on the agenda. The federal leader Gary Morris, aviation professional, believes thousands of members envisage a revival of grassroots support. Teresa van Lieshout, former experienced teacher, on the east coast has worked tirelessly to assist the homeless and raise awareness of the party as an alternative to the duopoly. The party aim is to improve standards of living and rights for all Australians.[4].
