The Aurora Public Library is a library in Aurora, Illinois, United States. It includes the Main Library, two branches, a satellite library, a support facility and a bookmobile. The library locations service a population of almost 200,000.
The Main Library, built with funds from Andrew Carnegie, was erected in 1904. It currently is located in downtown Aurora at 1 E. Benton St. next to SciTech Museum. The site of the former Beacon-News (at the southwest corner of Benton and River streets) was purchased in 2010 for the construction of a new library. A groundbreaking for the new building will take place in early 2013.
The two branches are the Eola Road Branch and the West Branch.
The Eola Road library, built in 1993, is located at 555 S. Eola Road and is connected to the Fox Valley Park District's Eola Community Center. This branch provides service for the far east side of Aurora. In 2003, this branch was expanded to meet the demands of the growing community.
The West Branch, built in 1998, is located at 233 S. Constitution Drive. It is connected to West Aurora School District's Washington Middle School.
On Sept. 17, 2012, the Express Center opened at 1100 Church Road. In addition to books, e-readers, audiobooks, DVDs and magazines for adults and children in English and Spanish, the Express Center has computer stations for Internet and library database access.
