Atmolysis

Atmolysis ( Ancient Greek: ατμις, vapour; Ancient Greek: λυειν, to loosen), a term coined by Thomas Graham to denote the separation of a mixture of gases by taking advantage of their different rates of diffusion through a porous septum or diaphragm.

The different rates of diffusion is due to different atomic or molecular masses. The rate of diffusion is inversely proportional to the square root of molecular or atomic masses.Tills method is based upon rates of diffusion of gases and used for their separation from a gaseous mixture.
