Profiles

Atlantic High School is a public high school located in Port Orange, Florida. The school started in 1994 and currently serves about 1,300 students in grades 9 to 12 and is part of Volusia County Schools. The Principal, James Tager, is a college and career oriented principal. He focuses on getting students to find a career and train for it while in high school, advocating duel enrollment and Advanced Placement courses. The School is in the process of getting computers for each student, to help them learn in an advanced way, adapting to the times.

Extra Curricular Activities are extremely important at Atlantic High School. Athletics

The schools athletic teams are known as the Atlantic Sharks. The school colors are teal and black.

-Atlantic won the state championships in women's bowling in 2010 and 2014.

-Atlantic won 2nd in state championships in women's bowling in 2015.

-Atlantic Boys' Basketball team won districts on February 11, 2016.

-Atlantic's Wrestling Team dominated 2014,2015,2016.

-Atlantic's Tennis Team 2016 is the Best in district and state

Career Academies

AHS currently (2013) offers three Career Academies: The Academy of Law and Government (ALAG), Communications and Arts in Performance Academy (CAPA), and the Horticulture, Environmental and Marine Science Academy (HEMS).

The purpose of Career Academies is to offer students unique educational opportunities in the professional area of their choice. Students who belong to an academy can expect to go on field trips, hear guest speakers, and experience hands-on training.

ALAG is a gold star academy, as rated by the Volusia County CTE Department, and attracts students from as far as Deltona.
