He subsequently failed another doping test at the 1993 World Outdoor Championships and received a life ban. Silver medallist Jim Doehring, who had a guilty finding to a previous doping case overturned on a legal technicality, later tested positive for a banned steroids. Bronze medallist Vyacheslav Lykho had been stripped of his bronze medal won at the 1990 European Championships in Split due to a doping offence. Despite this, they result from the Barcelona is officially accepted, because there is no known positive result from this games, and according to "innocent until caught at that moment" rule they can keep his medal.
