Ashok Gaikwad (born 25 November 1959) is an Indian politician. Gaikwad is member of the Republican Party of India (A). Gaikwad is from Satara, Maharashtra, India. He belongs to a dalit community and is a follower of Dr. BR Ambedkar.

Gaikwad participated in Indian general election, 2014 from Satara (Lok Sabha constituency) as a representative of Mahayuti an alliance of Bharatiya Janata Party, Shiv Sena and Republican Party of India (A).

In Maharashtra only 1 Lok Sabha ticket was allocated to Republican Party of India (A) by Mahayuti and this opportunity was given to Gaikwad because of his long association and contribution to Dalit moment.

Gaikwad was contesting against Udayanraje Bhosale the premier candidate of Nationalist Congress Party. Gaikwad lost the election with huge margin and Udayanraje Bhosale was chosen as Member of Parliament of Satara (Lok Sabha constituency) whereas throughout Maharashtra the picture was different for Mahayuti candidates.

Gaikwad's defeat in Lok Sabha was due to non polarization between the supporting parties and independent candidate given by Shiv Sena. Few of the Dalit speaker said that the defeat was due to caste politics.

Gaikwad is still considered as a dominating and favourite Dalit leader among the masses of Satara and will play and important role in 2014 states election of Maharashtra.
