Ashley Lyles (born 1994) is a medical journalist, a premedical student, and a designer. She is a native of Michigan and a graduate of Michigan State University (MSU), where she earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Professional Writing with a concentration in Digital and Technical Writing. Ashley was a very active member in the Michigan State University community. She served as a resident assistant and worked at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory and the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (NSCL/FRIB) for three years.
Ashley participated in a number of internships and programs that helped to equip her for her work in journalism and medicine. She was an active member in the Charles Drew Science Scholars Program and served as Co Editor-in-Chief of Solve. Collaborate. Investigate (SCI), Michigan State University’s only scientific journal ran by undergraduate students. She was also a scholar in the Research Education Program to Increase Diversity in Health Researchers (REPID), through which she received a National Institute of Health-National, Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NIH-NHLBI) funded scholarship to conduct biomedical research. She traveled to Honduras where she participated in a global medical and dental brigade.
At fifteen years old, Ashley stood before Southfield City Council and was appointed by former Southfield Mayor Brenda Lawrence to serve as the student representative for the Southfield Public Library Board. Throughout the course of her appointment, she gained exposure to nonprofit business management, fiscal policy, politics, and community outreach.
In April 2016, Ashley won a business mentoring competition through which she was mentored by supermodel Veronica Webb.
