Programs

Since 1996 Arrupe College has offered the bachelor in philosophy (BA) through affiliation with the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. It is also associated with the University of Zimbabwe, offering the bachelor and master in philosophy, the bachelor in philosophy honors, and a diploma in philosophy and religious education. The College offers an education that is at once intellectual and pastoral, in the tradition of Jesuit pedagogy.

Most of the students at Arrupe are Jesuit seminarians from various countries in Africa. The College’s four-year BA program integrates a major in philosophy with the equivalent of a year each of other humanities (similar to juniorate in the Jesuit system) and five courses in theology, including African religions. Most courses have African components.
Besides Jesuits, Arrupe's graduates include lay women and men, religious sisters and brothers, Franciscans, Claretians, Carmelites, Redemptorists, Methodist pastors, and Anglican priests and seminarians. Twenty-one African countries are represented along with Jamaica and Sri Lanka. Arrupe also enjoys a multinational blend of teachers, with 20 countries represented over the years.

Facilities

The library contains 90,000 books, 34 subscribed journals, and over 1,000 online journals.

The Chapel of the Holy Name includes original works by the late Fr Anthony Berridge, S.J. Sports facilities include basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts on site, with swimming pools located at student residences.
