Armin Thiede (30 December 1917 – 9 July 1943) was a highly decorated Hauptmann in the Luftwaffe during World War II and a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. During his career he flew 700+ missions. Armin Thiede was killed on 9 July 1943 when a glide transport that he was a passenger in crashed near Ostrice, Croatia.
