The Armenian whiskered bat (Myotis hajastanicus), also known as the Hajastan myotis or the Armenian myotis, is a species of bat from the family Vespertilionidae. The Armenian whiskered bat was formerly included as a part of the whiskered bat, but was considered distinct in 2000 as a result of morphologic comparison.

Overview

In spite of two surveys, there have been no records of the Armenian whiskered bat since the 1980s, and the species was only ever located in the Sevan Lake basin in Armenia. There have been no recorded male individuals, and the species is possibly extinct. Until further surveys can determine if extinction is certain, the Armenian whiskered bat is listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List.
