About the show

The first episode of Arcadia was televised on August 2008. As of June 2010, the show has had a total of 67 different scripts. The original idea came from Diego Burgos, who contacted 18-50 Televisión to suggest the addition of a video gaming based show to their regular broadcast. As a result, 18-50 Televisión offered Burgos the opportunity to produce the show. Burgos contacted Tomás Gálvez (among other friends) to host Arcadia. Eventually, Gálvez became the show's host and, together with Burgos, they came up with the name and the show's theme and segments. The name "Arcadia" was chosen among a whole lot of options, including "El Control" and "Start/Select". Since the first episode, Arcadia has been produced by:

  • Diego Burgos
  • Dabner Ortíz
  • Alfonso Sierra
  • César Castro
  • Daniel Correa
  • Javier Soto
  • Antonioh Ramírez
  • The show can be followed by Internet in real time or at the show's official website.

    Segments

The show elaborates on the matters of and related to video games, its coverage ranging from video game releases, news and reviews to video games' social impact, media and myths. These themes are divided in segments, such as:

  • Reseña: a description of a video game's characteristics, focusing mainly on gameplay, reception and opinion.
  • Tema: discussion on a subject pertinent to science, society, trends, etc. which is, in some way, related to the universe of video games.
  • FM Juegos: presentation and discussion over the music of video games. Mainly, this segment develops on video game composers and musicians (e.g., Tommy Tallarico, Koji Kondo), video game OST's and special mixes and arranges based on video game music (such as Ultranomicon, OC Remix and Joe Pleiman's version of the Zelda theme.
  • Retro: a special segment dedicated to the presentation, review and description of old video games (e.g., Colossal Cave Adventure) and video gaming consoles (e.g., Satellaview, Sega Genesis and the portables Game and Watch).
