Apamea occidens, the western apamea, is a moth of the family Noctuidae. It is native to western North America as far east as Alberta and Kansas.
The forewing length is 18 to 23 mm. It is mottled gray with reddish areas in the middle. It is nocturnal and flies during the summer. The larva is a cutworm that feeds on grasses.
