Anne Whitfield was born on August 27, 1938 in Oxford, Mississippi, USA. She is the daughter of Frances Turner Whitfield and Richard N. Whitfield, Jr. Her father was director of bands at the University of Mississippi

Her mother was employed as a speech teacher. Later in life, she moved to California and attended Rosewood Avenue Public School. By the time she was 17, she was a student at the University of California. She had to schedule her work around her classes at that time as she was already working on various radio programs by then.

Career

Anne Whitfield was an actress, who was especially known for White Christmas (1954), numerous commercials and television shows. Her radio career started in 1945 when she was barely seven years old. Some of her well known TV appearances include 3 Perry Mason's, One Step Beyond, Rawhide, 77 Sunset Strip, Gunsmoke, 2 Cheyenne's, Doby Gillis, and a Bonanza.

There was a time when as a kid, Anne Whitfield played almost all child roles on nearly every dramatic and comedy series originating in Hollywood. It was on September 1945 she made her first appearance on radio. She literally had to step up on a box so that she can reach an already lowered microphone in an NBC studio

The first words she spoke on radio was for a radio commercial where she had to say 'I want another slice of bread'. At the age of seven, she became a member of the cast of One Man's Family. She was also heard on The Screen Guild Theater, Lux Radio Theatre, Family Theater, Cavalcade of America, His Honor, The Cisco Kid, Phone Again, Dr. Paul, the Barber, The women in my house and The Harold Peary Show.

One of the most popular roles she played during 1960, was of “Trudy“ in the seventh episode of the sixth season of ‘Don Matteo’ in the TV Western Gunsmoke. Trudy was a working bar girl in the Long Branch. Anne Whitfield also played Claudia Barbour in the Television version of One Man's Family.

She played the two roles at the same time during the Television series' single season on the air. Apart from these there are numerous shows she played a role such as "The Case of the Ugly Duckling", "The Case of the Nautical Knot", and "The Case of the Crafty Kidnapper", among others.
