Anguilla nigricans is an eel in the family Anguillidae. It was described by Chu Yuan-Ting & Y.T. Wu in 1984. It is a subtropical freshwater eel which is known from China. The eels spend most of their lives in freshwater, but migrate to the ocean to breed. Males can reach a maximum standard length of 52 centimetres. Anguilla nigricans is a synonym of Anguilla japonica.
