The Diocese of Assam was a diocese of the Church of England in North-East India.

The diocese was created from the Diocese of Calcutta in 1915. Upon Indian independence in 1947, it became the Diocese of North India in the Anglican Church of India, Pakistan, Burma and Ceylon, and it is now part of the united Church of North India.

Bishops

The colonial diocese had three diocesan bishops:

  • 1915–1924: Herbert Pakenham-Walsh (1871–1959)
  • 1924–1945: George Hubback (1882–1955)
  • 1946–1948: Nirod Biswas
