Andrés Montoya (May 18, 1968 – May 26, 1999) was a Latino American poet.

Life

He graduated from California State University, Fresno, and from the University of Oregon.
His work appeared in The Santa Clara Review, In the Grove, Bilingual Review/Revista Bilingüe, and Flies, Cockroaches, and Poets.
His father, Malaquias Montoya, teaches at University of California, Davis, and was visiting fellow at the Institute for Latino Studies (ILS) at the University of Notre Dame.
He died from leukemia, before his book was published.
The biennial Andrés Montoya Poetry Prize is awarded by the Institute for Latino Studies, at the University of Notre Dame.
