Andrew Louw is a South African politician, the leader of the opposition Democratic Alliance in the Northern Cape province and the leader of the official opposition in the Provincial legislature. He is the former Shadow Minister of Labour, and a Member of Parliament for the DA.

Bio

Louw completed his matric in Kimberley at Homevale Senior Secondary School. He has a Marketing Management Diploma (Rand Afrikaans University), an Operations Management Diploma (Pretoria University), a Diversity Management Diploma (Wits University), a Business Management Diploma (Rand Afrikaans University) and a Labour Relations qualification (Unisa).

He has been married to Mariam for the past 14 years and they have three children.

Political life

Louw was first elected as a municipal councillor for the DA in Sol Plaatje Municipality. He went to Parliament in 2009, but then transferred to the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature later the same year following his election as DA leader in the province, a position he still holds. Following the 2014 general election, the DA emerged as the largest opposition party in the Northern Cape, and Louw took up the position as Leader of the Opposition in the Legislature.
