A number of his songs have gone platinum in sales. Öberg has written music which has topped the singles and album charts in Japan and Korea. He has written music for Girls' Generation, Namie Amuro, Exile, Super Junior, EXO, Arashi, TVXQ, BoA, SHINee, Red Velvet, f(x), Hey!Say!JUMP, Kim Hyun Joong, ジャニーズWEST, B1A4, 2PM, BEAST and VIXX.
Music career
Öberg was born in Stockholm on 6 August 1978. He began playing guitar at age eight, and studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. He has performed with Les Paul, Eros Ramazzotti, Hank Jones and Bireli Lagrene.
Öberg won the Hagström Guitar Award and the Gevalia Music Prize in 2004 and the International Guitar Competition Prize in Montreux in 2006. Öberg is a former guest lecturer at the Musicians Institute (formerly GIT) in Hollywood.
Since early 2012, Öberg has focused on writing and producing pop and rhythm and blues music for Asian, US and European artists. Notable releases with songs by Öberg songs are Girls' Generation's RIAJ platinum-certified album Girls & Peace and their RIAJ gold-certified album Love & Peace (with the four co-written songs "Motorcycle", "Gossip Girls", "Do the Catwalk" and "Lingua Franca") and TVXQ's RIAJ platinum-certified Tree and With. Tree peaked at number two on the United World album chart (listing the bestselling albums in the world weekly) in March 2014.
In 2015 SHINee's album, Odd (including "Romance", co-written by Öberg) topped the Korean Gaon album chart for two consecutive weeks and the Billboard World Albums chart at the end of May 2015. Namie Amuro's RIAJ platinum-certified album, Genic (with Öberg's co-written "Photogenic") was number two on the United World chart in late June 2015. In August 2015, Super Junior's 10th-anniversary album Devil (including "Forever With You", co-written by Öberg) topped the United World chart two weeks after release.
In May 2016, Namie Amuro released her single "Mint" where both the A- & B-side (Mint & Chit Chat) were co-written & co-produced by Oberg. The song has so far sold more the 100 000 digital copies in Japan & was certified Gold by RIAJ. In June 2016, EXO released their album "EX'ACT" including Oberg's co-write "Stronger". The album was the most sold in the world according to Global Album chart and has so far sold more than 1,1 million physical copies
