American Travel Solutions (AmTrav) is an American privately held travel management company owned by Craig Fichtelberg, Eric Fichtelberg, and Jeff Klee. Originally handling leisure travel and operating as American Travel Associates until 2005, AmTrav now handles business travel as well as leisure clients through its online travel agency, Cheapair (CheapAir.com).

AmTrav operates offices out of Chicago, Denver, and Los Angeles, with over 100 employees. According to Travel Weekly, AmTrav is ranked #51 on the 2015 Power List of Travel Agencies in the United States.

AmTrav is a member of IATAN.

History

American Travel Associates was created in 1989 originally for leisure travel operating as 1-800-Cheap-Air. In 1999 American Travel Associates was spun off from CheapAir.com as the need for business travel grew.

In 2002, American Travel Associates started a new division AirNet Tours as an entry into the wholesale and consolidator business.

In 2003, American Travel Associates acquired Brookshire Travel Services (BTS) in Chicago, IL.

In 2005, American Travel Associates re-branded as American Travel Solutions and CheapAir, Inc. separating its business and leisure brands.

In 2012, AmTrav made its first appearance on the Travel Weekly Power List of Top U.S. Travel Agencies, coming in at #53.

In 2013, AmTrav appeared on the Travel Weekly Power List at #48.

In late 2014, AmTrav acquired Young’s Travel Service in Auburn, MA. Also in 2014, AmTrav became the first corporate booking tool to sell premium seats on United and Delta Airlines. AmTrav came in at #49 on the Travel Weekly Power List of Top U.S. Travel Agencies.
