History

Branislav Nušić Amateur Drama Theatre is a very famous theatre in Teslic. It was officially established on February 16, 2008. The theatre is the corner stone of the culture change as there are misconceptions that Teslic was a lifeless city with no culture due to the civil war that has occurred between 1992 and 1995. A group of teslican citizens (known as "the founders") decided to revive their culture and improve their international image by delivering theatrical performances.

While the founders were doing the final adjustments to the theatre, 15 amateur actors were about to participate in their first show called "Народни посланик" ("The National Ambassador"). The effort paid off. The theatre was too small to accommodate all those who wanted to see their culture brought back to their lovely town. Same year, they organized the first theatre caravan in Laktasi, with new performances and delivered awards to the performers. In 2009, they began to organize acting classes for children from 7 to 14 years old who later become active performers in festivals all around Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The very beginning

Although, the theatre was officially established in 2008, Teslic was long before known for her street performances. Marko Mudornja, who lived in Teslic during 1958 and 1990 is remembered as the person who had staged plays and entertained teslicans with his acting and directing. He brought together young people, children, students and workers and taught them about this beautiful way of expressing art.
