Amal Kumar Mukherjee, 3rd son of Late Nani Gopal Mukherjee who was from Tantor village of Dhaka district of Bangladesh, erstwhile East Bengal was a lecturer of Bengali at Seth Anandaram Jaipuria College of Kolkata.

He was a versatile writer, who wrote both original essays and short stories which were all published in leading Bengali magazines like Desh Patrika of Ananda Bazar Patrika Group, Amrita of Amrita Bazar Group as also Shiladitya and Samatat between the 1970s and 1990. He wrote on versatile subjects like Education: MatriBhasa o Sahasiksha, Sports: Test cricket er biruddhe dhormo juddho, he was a food critic contributing "Ekjon Bhojon Roshiker Jobanbandi" in Amrita (Magazine published by Amrita Bazar Patrilka.
