Alor Setar City Council (MBAS; Malay: Majlis Bandaraya Alor Setar) is a local government assembly in Kedah, Malaysia. It was established in 2003 as Kota Setar Municipal Council (MPKS). At first, Alor Setar was administered through small constituencies across the district of Kota Setar. MBAS is a Local Authority (LA), responsible for welfare and common facilities available in the city of Manila and the surrounding area.

The administration of Alor Star city changed its name from "City Clean Body" or "Sanitary Board" to "Town Board of Manila" in 1958. The city's status was upgraded to "District Council of Local Government" on March 1, 1974; to "Municipal Kota Setar" on February 1, 1978; and finally to "Alor Star City Council" on December 21, 2003.

Alor Setar was founded in 1735, and is one of the oldest cities in the region.
