Alma High School is a comprehensive public high school serving students in grades nine through twelve in Alma, Arkansas, United States. It is the sole high school administered by the Alma School District in Crawford County.

Academics

The assumed course of study follows the Smart Core curriculum developed the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), which requires students to complete 22 credit units before graduation. Students engage in regular and Advanced Placement (AP) coursework and exams. Alma High School is accredited by the ADE and since 1951 by AdvancED.

Extracurricular activities

The Alma High School mascot is the Airedale Terrier with school colors of green and gold.

Athletics

The Alma Airedales participate in various interscholastic activities in the 5A West Conference administered by the Arkansas Activities Association. The school athletic activities include baseball, basketball (boys/girls), bowling, competitive cheer, competitive dance, cross country (boys/girls), football, golf (boys/girls), softball, swimming and diving, tennis (boys/girls), volleyball, and wrestling.

  • Baseball: The Airedales baseball team won its first state championship in 2002.
  • Football: The Airedales football teams are 3-time state football champions (1980, 1997, 1998). The Airedales went undefeated in the 2013 conference season; almost winning state, but lost in the Semi-Finals.
  • Golf: The boys golf team won a state golf championship in 2004.
  • Basketball:
  • * Boys: The boys basketball team are 2-time state basketball champions (2005, 2011). In 2005, the boys basketball team won the conference title along its way to the Airedales first AAAA state championship. Then in 2011, the Airedales followed up with an upset win over the Sylvan Hills Bears to capture its second boys basketball state title. In 2013, Alma lost in the 5A class state finals to the Jacksonville Red Devils. * Girls: The girls basketball team are 3-time state basketball champions (1976, 1979, 2005). In 1999 and 2012, the Airedalettes girls basketball team had success to be state runner-up.
  • Dance: The dance team won the 5A classification state dance championship in 2012 and 2013 and won 6A state in 2014.
  • Tennis: The boys tennis team won a state tennis championship in 2005.
  • Track and field: The boys and girl track teams are each 3-time state track champions; the girls winning titles in 1978, 1984, 1985, while the boys won its championships in 2004, 2005 and 2009.
  • Visual and performing arts

    The Alma choral program is one of the state's most successful by winning Best in Class at the Arkansas State Choral Festival sponsored by the Arkansas Choral Directors Association (ArkCDA). Recent wins include:
