The Alliance of British Drivers (ABD) is a motoring advocacy group in the United Kingdom. It is occasionally quoted by British news media in stories regarding road safety, motoring taxation, road infrastructure provision and other related issues.

Formation

The ABD was formed in 2012 by the merger of the Association of British Drivers and the Drivers' Alliance. The Association of British Drivers was an organisation that dated back to 1993, when it was formed as a membership based, not-for-profit organisation by Brian Gregory. The Drivers' Alliance, which had been formed to oppose road pricing, was founded in 2008 by Peter Roberts. Peter Roberts had been responsible for creating an e-petition against road pricing which with more than 1.7 million signatories, had received more support than any other e-petition created on the government website.
