Album History

In addition to the eight Parton compositions, there were two covers; Emmylou Harris' "Boulder to Birmingham" and Merle Haggard's "Life's Like Poetry". The album was released around the time Parton began appearing regularly in the supermarket tabloids, and "Shattered Image", which advised to "stay out of my closet if your own's full of trash" was said to be a reaction to that. "The Fire That Keeps You Warm" was originally recorded by Parton and Porter Wagoner on the 1974 album Porter 'n' Dolly.

This was the last Parton album on which Porter Wagoner would get producing credit.

The album was nominated for a Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal.

Parton re-recorded "Shattered Image" for her 2002 Halos & Horns album. "Falling out of Love With Me" was covered in 2002 by the country-rock band Pinmonkey with Parton providing harmony vocals.

The title song reached #3 on the U.S. country charts. "Hey, Lucky Lady" was also released as a single.

In conjunction with Parton's European Tour 2007, BMG Germany (a division of Sony/BMG) released the album for the first time on CD. It was paired with 1977s New Harvest - First Gathering on one single CD.
