Aleksei Mikhailovich Abaza was a Royal Dignitary of Russia and served as a Rear Admiral in 1903. He was one of the leading committee members which governed foreign affairs with an emphasis on Far Eastern issues.

Abaza was part of the Bezobrazov group, along with his cousin Aleksandr Mikhailovich Bezobrazov, Secretary of State, and Admiral Evegeni Alexseev, and their policies that contributed predominantly to the Russo-Japanese War, after which the committee was abandoned and Abaza became a Royal Naval officer.
