Alexandre Maître, marquis de Bay (Salins, 1650 – Badajoz, November 14, 1715) was a French military officer in the service of Spain during the War of the Spanish Succession.

Service Record

1696 - 1701: in service in the Dutch cavalry, colonel.

1701: offered his services to Philip V of Spain, general of cavalry in Flanders.

1704 : Became Marquis de Bay and Captain-General of Extremadura.

1707 : He conquered Ciudad Rodrigo and received for this the Order of the Golden Fleece.

1709: In command of the Spanish troops he defeated a combined Anglo-Portuguese army at the Battle of La Gudina.

1710 : He suffered a severe defeat at the Battle of Saragossa.
