SWAIA Indian Market 2016 — Interview with Best of Show Winner Adrian Nasafotie


Adrian Nasafotie (artist) was raised in the Hopi villages of both Moencopi and Shungopavy, left the reservation to attend school in Long Beach, California, then traveled to Lawrence, Kansas where he studied welding technology at Haskell Indian School.

He is a Hopi show winner and he has been featured in several art shows, including the Prescott Indian Art, the international Indian Art Market in Santa Fe, New Mexico and even museums such as The Museum of Northern Arizona where he also has his work on display.

From back when he was 9 years old, making his first doll from cloth, leather, hawk and eagle feathers: Adrian Nasafotie has come full circle by winning the biggest prize at the highly competitive Museum of Northern Arizona's Hopi Show.

His winning sculpture, is titled "Quest," and took Best of Show in 2008.
