Hauck studied creative writing at San Diego State University, and briefly pursued a career in journalism before moving to Los Angeles to work in television and film production. Adam quickly found work as a writer and producer on the nightly FX talk show, "The X Show", then later worked on Comedy Central's "Beat the Geeks", and several reality TV shows, including MTV's "Road Rules" and NBC's "Who Wants to Marry My Dad?" In 2004, Adam made his feature film debut, writing and producing the documentary HOMECOMING, which he made with long-time producing partner George Cawood. HOMECOMING went on to enjoy an award winning festival run before finding a home on PBS. Some of Adam's recent work can be seen in the DVD special features he has written and produced for Gary Ross's Seabiscuit, James Cameron's Ghosts of the Abyss, Joss Whedon's Serenity, and Joe Carnahan's crime thriller Smokin' Aces. In 2007 he directed a music video for the post-rock band El Ten Eleven.
