Adam Gibson (born 30 October 1986) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Brisbane Bullets of the National Basketball League (NBL). He has twice played on NBL championship teams, in 2007 with the Brisbane Bullets, and in 2009 with the South Dragons. Gibson was a member of the Australian national team at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, helping the Boomers to a seventh-place finish with a 3–3 record.

Brisbane Bullets (2005–2008)
Gibson attended the Australian Institute of Sport from 2004 to 2005 and made his debut with the Brisbane Bullets in September 2005, establishing himself as one of the best young Australian talents in the NBL. He appeared in 29 games as a rookie, averaging three points per game.
In his second season with the Bullets, Gibson helped the team win the 2006–07 NBL championship with a grand final defeat of the Melbourne Tigers. While Gibson averaged six points per game over the season, the grand final series saw an increase to 8.5 points. He stayed with the defending champions for the 2007–08 season, where their run was eventually halted in the semi-finals. Following the season, Gibson was released from his contract on 29 May 2008 at his own request, following which he was signed by the South Dragons.
South Dragons (2008–2009)
Gibson quickly became the Dragons starting point guard. In his first season for the club, Gibson won his second NBL championship, again at the expense of the Melbourne Tigers. The 2008–09 season saw Gibson earn All-NBL Third Team honours and was named the NBL Best Defensive Player.
Gold Coast Blaze (2009–2012)
Unfortunately for Gibson and the rest of the South Dragons, the club folded following their championship win. Gibson subsequently signed with the Gold Coast Blaze for the 2009–10 NBL season.
Following the 2010–11 NBL season which saw the Blaze just miss a playoff berth with a 13–15 record, Gibson was named to the All-NBL Second Team for the second straight year, having earned second team honours in 2009–10. He returned to the Blaze for the 2011–12 season and again earned All-NBL Second Team honours, the third time in three seasons.
Adelaide 36ers (2012–2016)
In July 2012, following the collapse of the Gold Coast Blaze, Gibson signed with the Adelaide 36ers for the 2012–13 NBL season. Gibson joined Adelaide along with Blaze teammates Jason Cadee and Anthony Petrie.
On 15 March 2013, Gibson played his 250th NBL game in a loss to the Cairns Taipans.
On 7 May 2013, Gibson re-signed with the 36ers on a two-year deal.
During the 2013 off-season, Gibson helped the Forestville Eagles win the Central ABL championship. He had a Grand Final MVP performance with 24 points on 59 percent shooting, with 4-of-6 three-pointers, seven assists, two steals and four rebounds.
On 2 November 2014, Gibson scored a career-high 34 points in a 93–86 win over the New Zealand Breakers. He subsequently earned NBL Player of the Week honours for Round 4. On 4 January 2015, he played his 300th NBL game in a loss to the New Zealand Breakers.
On 25 June 2015, Gibson re-signed with the 36ers for the 2015–16 season.
Return to Brisbane (2016–present)
On 8 April 2016, Gibson signed with the Brisbane Bullets for the 2016–17 NBL season, returning to the Bullets for the team's first season in the NBL since 2007–08. During the 2016 off-season, he underwent ankle surgery, played for the NBL All-Australian team on their China tour, and played in the Queensland Basketball League for the Gold Coast Rollers. On 24 November 2016, he played his 350th NBL game in the Bullets' loss to his former team, the Adelaide 36ers. After sustaining a calf injury on 13 January 2017 against the Illawarra Hawks, Gibson was ruled out for three to four weeks.
National team career
Gibson got his first taste of national team basketball when he represented Australia at the 2005 FIBA Under-21 World Championship in Argentina, helping the Emus to a fourth-place finish with a 5–0 record. After defeating Slovenia 89–80 in the quarter-finals, the Emus missed a chance at a medal after losing their semi-final 96–73 to Lithuania, and the third-place playoff 79–74 to Canada.
Gibson has played for the Australian senior national team, the Boomers, during the 2009 FIBA Oceania Championship, 2010 FIBA World Championship, 2011 FIBA Oceania Championship, 2012 London Olympics, 2013 FIBA Oceania Championship, 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup and 2015 FIBA Oceania Championship.
