Adam Bassett is a British lighting designer. Bassett designs, directs and produces a wide range of lighting projects. Bassett was the Associate Lighting Designer for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics.

Bassett trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, graduating in 2000. From early in his career he collaborated with lighting designer Patrick Woodroffe. In 2004 Bassett started his own design practice, with projects including theatrical productions, dance performances, large-scale special events and the specialist lighting of architecture. Bassett is the lighting designer for the Doha Film Festival in Qatar, a position he has held since the first festival was held in 2009.

In July 2013 Bassett and Woodroffe merged their two consultancies into a single firm, Woodroffe Bassett Design.

Awards and nominations

Along with three other key members of the lighting team, Bassett was nominated for an Emmy at the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards, scheduled for 22 September 2013 in Los Angeles, for Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Special, for their work on the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony. Bassett was nominated as Lighting Director, and the three other nominees for the ceremony are Patrick Woodroffe (Lighting Designer), Tim Routledge (Moving Light Programmer) and Al Gurdon (Director of Photography).
