Abu Hudhayfa ibn Utbah (Arabic: أبو حذيفة بن عتبة; died 633), full name Abu Hudhayfa ibn Utbah ibn Rabi'ah was an early companion of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. He was the son of Utbah ibn Rabi'ah, one of the Leaders of Banu Abd Shams. He was the brother of Walid ibn Utbah and Hind bint Utbah, the wife of Abu Sufyan.

He was married to Sahla bint Suhail and had an adoptive son named Salim Mawla Abu Hudhayfa. BEFORE THe battle started muhammed rasul allah sas informed all the muslims that some people in the enemy front are brought by force to fight against us, if by chance if they come under your sword, dont harm them, especially abbas bin abdul mutallib, abul bakhtari, akhil bin abi talib, and named some other persons also.On hearing this abu huzaifa told ,how is it possible that I should kill my father and spare hazrat abbas. If he comes under me,I will make his face bleeding with blood.Huzoor turned towards umar and said "what nonsense he is saying".at this umar told "give me the permission ,I will roll off his head" huzoor told "no" he is a true muslim, but now he has made a mistake.after this abu huzaifa felt sorry during his whole life.www.nishaislamichyd.com Abu Hudhayfah fought in the Battle of Badr, witnessing the deaths of his father, brother, and uncle in the traditional 3 champions' combat duel before the actual battle between the Muslims and Quraish even started. Abu Hudhayfa was martyred, alongside Salim, in the Battle of Yamama in the Ridda wars in 11 A.H (633 CE). They were both buried together in the same grave.
