The burgh of Aboyne lies close to the heart of Royal Deeside, Scotland. Standing next to the River Dee, the town sits on the eastern edge of the Cairngorms National Park. There has been a small settlement at Aboyne since at least the 17th century. The present day town took shape in the 1820s when a major new bridge was built over the River Dee. A few years later, the arrival of railway and the establishment of the golf course turned Aboyne into a popular Victorian country resort town.

The golf club started life as a nine-hole course on the village green as early as 1881. Aboyne has a colourful history as is evident from Aboyne Castle, which adjoins the golf course. The current course relocated next to the Castle and was reconstructed with the present 18 holes stretching over 6,033 yards opening in August 1991.

Major results

On Sunday 11th September 2016 Harlaw won an impressive match against a makeshift hazlehead team in the Ryder cup. The Harlaw team played a consistent game throughout the day and hazlehead couldn't live up to their previous years heroics.

The one remain original hazlehead team member, Calum Grant struggled on the day and took his miserable record to 0-1-3. His downturn many argue was on the par 5 10th hole. Where sitting just 10ft from the pin in 2 proceeded to 3 putt for a half. Many believe the water in the loch surrounding the hole raised by as much as an inch as the tears flowed. He has subsequently denied these rumours and has vowed to return "stronger"

Until next year when this prestigious event continues.
