Aaryan Krishna Menon (Malayalam: ആര്യന്‍ കൃഷ്ണ മേനോന്‍ ; 26 October 1986) is an Indian actor, screenwriter, and a film director who works in the Malayalam film industry. Aaryan Menon made his acting debut with the Malayalam film Tournament (2010) and later starred in the Malayalam romantic drama film Pranayam (2011) written and directed by Blessy. He also played a leading role with Lal (actor) in the popular Malayalam short film titled Debt (2010), which went on to win three Kerala state awards.

He later ventured into film direction with a short film titled Burn My Body. Written and directed by him, the movie was highly acclaimed for its conceptualization, theme, and making. It turned viral on the internet, becoming one of the highest viewed Malayalam short films grossing 1.3 million YouTube views in only three months of release. Mathrubhumi news daily E-buzz reported that "A truth that is hard-hitting on the audience has been filmed with perfection and ease in just under 30 mins". A popular e-magazine Evartha described it as a movie par excellence in its kind as it dealt with a storyline that had never been told before.

Early life and background

Aaryan Krishna Menon was born in Kodungallur, in the Thrissur district of Kerala. He studied in Prajyoti Niketan College, Pudukaad, where he received his bachelor's degree in Electronics. Aaryan aspired to a career in film from a very young age. He was an avid theater artist and performed in numerous professional dramas and plays during his college days and has won several University-level awards and recognition. After receiving a post graduate diploma in Journalism, Aaryan began his career as a senior Radio jockey at Mathrubhumi Club FM. While working in Mathrubhumi, he conceptualized and hosted a popular celebrity chat show called Star Jam through which he received an opportunity to interview actor Mammooty. Impressed by Aaryan's passion for cinema, Lal (actor), who was with Mammotty during the time, and was looking for fresh faces for his new movie Tournament cast Aaryan for the lead role. Aaryan played the negative role in the movie, and was highly appreciated for his debut performance. This marked the beginning of Aaryan's career as an actor. Until 2012, he actively worked in shorts and feature films, after which, he shifted residence to Dubai and resumed his career as a radio jockey. In 2015 he made a massive comeback through his debut directorial venture of a short film titled Burn My Body and garnered praise for his bold attempt at filming and raising awareness about a complicated issue, necrophilia. Burn My Body short film and its poster is included as a reference for "Necrophilia", for MBBS students in this year's "Text book of Forensic medicine and toxicology", edited by V V Pillay.
