Aarhus metropolitan area

Aarhus metropolitan area has 829,224 inhabitants on an area of 5,842 km².

This metropolitan area is the second most populated area in Denmark, only surpassed by the Copenhagen metropolitan area. The Aarhus metropolitan area is one of the fastest growing areas in Denmark, marked by a steady population growth.

Aarhus is also a part of the larger East Jutland metropolitan area. This is a new metropolitan area, the first meeting between the cities and the Danish state has begun to find a broad corporation and a common identity. The cities have not yet grown together and they probably never will because the Danish state will protect the green areas so it not will grow into a new Danish "Los Angeles". The municipalities below are what traditionally constitutes east Jutland but more cities can probably become a part of the new corporation.

The statistics below show data for the Aarhus metropolitan area and for the East jutland metropolitan area.
