History

The women's volleyball team was founded in 1995, after merging with the group of Alsoupolis, and participated for the first time in the local league of the first Athens. Slowly, they climbed all categories and in the spring of 2002 they were promoted to A1 with coach George Paganeli. But the team was not quite ready for a great class and downgraded immediately.

Since then (2003/04), they competed in A2, but they won the Championship in 2005/06 and the following season (2006/07) will be struggling again to the great category.

In 2011-12 season, AEK won for the first time the A1 championship. Also they won the Greek Super Cup at the same year.

The first years, the volleyball departments of AEK were housed in the indoor "Leontios Hall" in Patissia and since 1989 in the historic Georgios Moschos Indoor Hall.
