Phil Critten, who performs as aCivilian (/‘eɪsɪvɪliːen/) (born 16 May 1980) is an English musician, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. He is the frontman of the alternative rock band aCivilian as well as co-founder, vocalist and principal songwriter and instrumentalist of the aCivilian Collective. aCivilian was previously named "i am error" until 2011.

Raised in Brundall and around Norfolk, Critten attended Thorpe St Andrew School and the University of East Anglia, where he eventually formed aCivilian whose debut album, Invention, was released in 2011 to good reviews. Critten was voted second place to Ed Sheeran in the Future Radio "Next Big Thing" band competition (2008).

aCivilian were featured on the One Minute Wonder album released through Eastzone Records which came out on 7” vinyl, after contributing the one-minute song I Dreamt About Dying.

aCivilian's work garnered positive reviews from Artrocker, Music Week, and The Skinny.
