Region II is one of the four AA regions in the Virginia High School League. It is made up of four districts: the AA Dulles District, the AA Evergreen District, the AA Jefferson District and the AA Northwestern District.

The geography of the region stretches from Northern Virginia, primarily in Loudoun County down to Charlottesville.

Due to rapidly growing populations in the area requiring new schools and expanding enrollment of schools previously in Group A, the Region now has more schools than any other VHSL Group AA region, prompting the move of schools in the former Valley District from Region II to Region III. Region II has lost several members to Group AAA over the last 10 years. In 2007, Liberty High School moved up to Group AAA. Warren County High School would also have moved up to Group AAA, but the opening of Skyline High School in the fall of 2007 will allow both schools will be able to remain in Group AA.

The return of Liberty and Fauquier High Schools to AA after the opening of Kettle Run High School forced the Northwestern District to split into two districts, with Skyline, Handley and the three Frederick County schools keeping the Northwestern District name. Fauquier, Kettle Run and Liberty will join with Brentsville and Warren County to form the new AA Evergreen District.

The Jefferson District will be losing three member schools and the end of the 2010-2011 school year. Orange County High School will be leaving for the group AAA Commonwealth District. Goochland High School will be leaving for the group A James River District and William Monroe High Schooll will be leaving for group A. Powhatan County will be joining the Jefferson District.
