The Canadian TV movie Henry Fords America's (Donald Brittain) co-produced by CBC and the National Film Board, and originally broadcast in Canada on November 28, 1976, was awarded an International Emmy for best TV movie nonfiction. The former president of the CBC, Alphonse Ouimet was honored with an International Emmy Directorate Award.
The prize in the fiction category was for The Collection (Harold Pinter), a British film produced by Granada Television, with Laurence Olivier, Alan Bates, Helen Mirren and Malcolm McDowell in the lead roles.
