City After Dark an Ishmael Bernal film was the winner of the Best Film at 5th Gawad Urian and Bernal himself was nominated as the best director although he lost out to Mike de Leon who won for Kakabakaba Ka Ba? However, the Manunuri gave its nod to Manila by Night for Best Screenplay Ishmael Bernal) and Best production Design (Peque Gallaga).[Kakabakaba Ka Ba?]] on the other hand, won most of the awards with five (5) but most of them came from the technical category such as Best Editing and Best Sound amongst others.
